Renfrew & Area Health Services Village

Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, in the Town of Renfrew. The catchment population served is approximately 33,634. The county-wide catchment population is approximately 95,138.

RVH is a fully accredited facility, offering surgical, medical, obstetric and chronic care. Special in-patient services include a Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, Hemo and Peritoneal Dialysis, Oncology, Birthing Room, Sleep Laboratory, Special Care Unit, Palliative Care and more.

County-Wide Nephrology Services
RVH has been designated by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care as the Regional Centre for Renfrew County Nephrology Services. As such a 10- station hemodialysis unit is located at RVH, a 6-station satellite hemodialysis unit is located at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay and a 6 station satellite unit in the Pembroke Regional Hospital. RVH offers a peritoneal dialysis to patients and PD clinics are held once every 6 weeks. A pre-renal insufficiency (PRI) program is held two to three times a month.

Renfrew County Satellite Oncology Program
RVH partnered with the Ottawa Regional Cancer Center in 1994 for the provision of a regional satellite oncology program in Renfrew County. The RVH satellite oncology clinic serves the needs of Renfrew County with an average increase of over 20% per year in oncology clinic attendance. Clinic visits represent routine follow-up visits, chemotherapy follow-up visits, and, new patient assessments for both radiation and medical oncology. Chemotherapy administrations have increased significantly as we expanded the systemic therapy program from Level One to Level Three. The acuity of the patients and the complexity of the treatments are significantly greater due to the newly approved cancer treatment modalities.

Specialist Clinics
We also offer 25 specialist out-patient clinics. RVH sponsors county-wide services through Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Treatment Service, Regional Assault Care Program and RVH Sleep Products.

Diagnostic Imaging
There is full diagnostic support within the hospital including staff radiologists providing computerized tomography (CT), radiological, ultrasound, bone density and mammography support. All modalities are linked to our PACS system that is in turn linked to The Ottawa Hospital. CT scan.

We have two, well equipped surgical suites, a comprehensive surgical program supported by a local surgeon.
